Ray tracing enables photorealistic graphics, but stylized games often age better. What should developers prioritize?

Additional Context

Games like Wind Waker still look great 20 years later, while "realistic" games from 2010 look dated. Is the industry's focus on photorealism actually counterproductive for long-term visual appeal?

The opportunity here is artistic vision should always win, but the industry has forgotten that technology serves art, not the other way around. Ray tracing is a tool - sometimes it helps, sometimes it hurts. The best graphics programmers know when NOT to use the latest tech. But that requires artistic judgment, which is rarer than technical skill.
